I was sent an interesting article last week that I thought I would share. The last point at the end about Theta Healing is what caught my attention. It seems to be catching on at quite a rapid pace. Something worth checking out.

New Year’s is not too far away. Undoubtedly, as we see every year, the most popular New Year’s resolution will be to lose weight, get in better shape, change one’s diet, or some variation thereof. We are nearing October now. Maybe you made that same resolution last year. Are you still sticking to it ten months later? For most people, the answer to that question is, “no.”

Before you print off the latest weight loss diet schedule you find online, spend money on fitness magazines, or lug home the latest and greatest in home gym equipment you might want to take a look at these simple tips to increase your chances for success next year, and help you to achieve that body you are looking for.

1)   Take a close look at your work-life balance.

One of the most popular reasons for weight gain or the inability to lose weight is finding one’s work-life balance out of whack. While most people would have a hard time saying that they love their job, how do you feel about yours? Are you bringing unneeded stress home with you? Are you having restless nights of sleep because of job worries? While it is hard to recommend anyone go looking for a new job in today’s economy, there may be changes at work you can make to relieve some of the tension.

What about your relationship? Is it a healthy and loving relationship or is it also a source of stress and aggravation? Might be time for a change.

2)   Instead of focusing on following a diet, focus on eating healthy.

Diets fail for a large multitude of reasons. Diets often force you to eat foods you would otherwise never eat or consider eating once you have completed the diet schedule. If you do not like the food in the first place, you are far less likely to stick to it for any length of time.

Rather than following some difficult to stick to diet, focus on eating healthier foods and eliminating obviously unhealthy foods. Remove things like candy, white bread, fried foods, and heavy pastas from your meals. Drink more water and eliminate soft drinks from your diet. If fruits and vegetables are lacking from your diet, start using them for snacks instead of things like chips and cookies.

Just this simple change will provide noticeable changes in your body and energy levels.

3)Keep a diet journal.

It can drastically help to keep track of things like how much water you drink, the food you eat, and even where you are emotionally before diving into a plate of unhealthy food.

4)Theta Healing.

Never heard of Theta Healing? Theta Healing is a holistic healing technique using quantum physics to access healing energy vibrations. Some say it gives you the ability to heal in an instant. It can heal physical, mental, and even spiritual problems in your life. Negative thoughts and beliefs from a childhood trauma can lead to poor eating habits and patterns later in life. By dealing with and overcoming those issues, it can lead to not only healthier eating habits, but also an emotionally healthier lifestyle.

Les Mills Pump

I just started a new workout program called Les Mills Pump. Those of you familiar with P90X and Beachbody.com have probably heard of it. It is a pretty popular workout program with classes offered at gyms across the country. My girlfriend was doing it for months and got me to go along with her to a class recently. She also just started a new job and the Pump classes around us no longer fit into her schedule, so she wanted to order it for home.

We’ve had it about 2 weeks now. I ordered the addons with it that include a few extra workouts. It is a little different than something like P90X in that the weightlifting workouts are pretty much a full body workout that emphasizes reps instead of maxing out on the weight. Where P90X stresses 8-10 or 12-15 reps for most exercises using the proper weight to feel the burn, with Pump you are doing far more repititions with lighter weights.

I wouldn’t say one is better than the other. It is just different. I’m enjoying the Pump workouts for that very reason. After doing the P90X workouts many, many times, it is fun to have something different to do for awhile.  I am one who does better with a set workout schedule I have to follow instead of trying to do my own workouts on my own schedule, so Les Mills Pump has brought a nice change to my routine.

As people grow older, they experience hearing loss or what is referred to as presbycusis. However, there are other causes of hearing loss. These include chronic exposure to very loud noises and hereditary factors. Earwax blockage can also lead to the loss of hearing. While it is not possible to reverse hearing loss, there are ways of preventing it.

The way of preventing hearing loss is protecting your ears in the work place. This is especially true for individuals who work with loud machines. It is advisable that you wear specially designed earmuffs. The muffs are akin to ear phones. They protect your ears by lowering sounds/noise to an acceptable level. You can also wear pre-formed, custom molded or foam earplugs. These are usually made from rubber or plastic and can help prevent loud noise from damaging your ears.

A lot of people do not realize that they have a hearing problem until it is too late. It is advisable to have your ears tested every once in a while. This is especially necessary for those who work in factories and other noisy environments. The benefit of regular testing is that it can help detect hearing loss early. Only a doctor may be able to objectively measure changes in sensitivity. Subsequently, steps may be taken to prevent further loss of hearing.

Yet another way of preventing hearing loss is avoiding what can be referred to as recreational risks. Such activities as listening to loud music on your ear phones for extended periods of time, hunting and riding snow mobiles are known to cause hearing problems. The best way to protect your ears is taking breaks from the noise and wearing protectors. It is also important to turn down the volume of the music when using earphones. If you really cannot do without your music then it is advisable that you invest in noise cancelling or sound isolating headphones.

You should also pay attention to your genes. If you did not already know, your family is by far the best indicator of genetic hearing loss. If you have to shout for your grandfather to hear you, there is a very good chance that you are also headed down that road. Accordingly, you should strive to protect your ears even more.

Wearing earmuffs, regular checkups, using sound isolating headphones and paying close attention to your genes. These are some of the ways of preventing hearing loss.
